Transitec was invited to participate in the 4th edition of the "Women & Transport Africa Conference" to present two topics:

  • The research work on women's mobility in 5 African cities, based on the analysis of household travel surveys in Casablanca, Sousse, Tangiers, Dakar and Yaoundé (Technical Break n°1)
  • The TRANSItions research project which aims to generate knowledge, develop skills and identify ways to improve paratransit services in 5 sub-Saharan African cities - Accra, Kumasi, Cape Town, Freetown, Maputo (as part of UKaid's High Volume Transport programme)

The conference, organised by the Flone Initiative in Kenya in hybrid (face-to-face/remote) format, aims to highlight new research, interventions and trends concerning women, children and people with mobility challenges in Africa and their relationship to mobility. It thus aims to:

  • Bring together civil society, policy makers, local authorities, researchers, academics, professionals and students from the African continent to discuss and highlight solutions to the mobility challenges faced by women, children and people with mobility issues;
  • To support and provide a platform for mobility professionals to share their experiences and challenges to inform policy, research and interventions.

The conference took place over three days (1, 2 and 3 December 2021), with each day focusing on a specific aspect of the theme, linked to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):

  • Day 1: Lived experiences
  • Day 2: Research
  • Day 3: Solutions
