The Transport Authority of Abidjan (AMUGA) launches two studies to improve transport services as well as intermodal integration

In a context of major transformations in the mobility sector (metro and BRT projects), AMUGA continues its efforts to improve mobility services and launches two studies to restructure the public transport network and develop 31 Multimodal Hubs and 150 stops.

The Abidjan Metropolis is currently experiencing a crucial period for its urban development and the development of its transport system. In the mid-2020s, two major projects will be commissioned:

  • The Metro line linking Anyama in the North to the international airport in the South
  • The East-West BRT line linking Yopougon to Bingerville

Other BRTs are also being studied, while SOTRA is being provided with a fleet of 2,000 buses and discussions are progressing on the professionalization of the paratransit sector and the development of lagoon transport.

In this context of full change, the recently created AMUGA launched two studies in which Transitec is involved:

  • a study to restructure the public transport network
  • a feasibility study for Multimodal Hubs

The latter study, which began in March 2022, is conducted in partnership with Bruno Remoué & Associates, Suez and local partners (Terrabo, E2D Consulting, David Barro). The objective is to define the development guidelines for 31 Multimodal Hubs and 150 stops in Greater Abidjan in order to improve intermodal integration (in the short term) and ultimately support the transport network restructuring.
