Transitec intervened during the workshop "physical integration and interoperability of the formal and informal sectors", to shed light on the issue of Multimodal Interchange Hubs.

The Urban Mobility Days (JMUR) organized from November 9th –11th 2022 by AMUGA on the theme of "professionalization of informal transport: challenges and opportunities for sustainable mobility in African cities" brought together nearly 300 participants. Transitec intervened in the workshop "physical integration and interoperability of the formal and informal sectors", to shed light on the issue of Multimodal Interchange Points (MIPs) in the organization of tomorrow's mobility

This presentation provided an update on the work carried out as part of the study of the Multimodal Interchange Hubs of Greater Abidjan, conducted in partnership with Bruno Remoué & Associats and Suez Consulting with AFD funding. This study will help AMUGA to prepare a program for:

  • building 32 multimodal exchange hubs allowing the integration of transport modes (metro, BRT, bus, lagoon transport, craft transport)
  • developing 150 stop-over points for non-conventional transport.

Additionally, a workshop was organized with the stakeholders to discuss the principles of intermodality and development proposed for each of the previously defined types of MEP and stop points. The exchanges thus allowed everyone to better understand the "Multimodal Interchange Hubs of tomorrow", which will replace the current bus stations. The conclusions will enable our consortium to apply these general principles to each of the Hubs studied, with the study scheduled for completion in February 2023.
